Rushton Skakel also is the father of Tommy and Michael Skakel, who are being investigated in the death of Moxley. Moxley was found bludgeoned to death in 1975. The Skakel family lived next door to the Moxleys at the time of the murder.
Rushton Skakels attorney argued last month that his clients testimony would be worthless to the grand jury investigating the murder case. The attorney said that Rushton Skakel suffers from memory loss, and is incompetent to testify.
As Rushton Skakel and his attorney were in a Florida court arguing to be waived from testifying, Martha Moxleys mother, Dorothy Moxley, sat and listened.
Theyre behaving like theyve behaved forever. They just dont seem to take responsibility for their actions. And thats whats happened all along. My daughter did not deserve to be murdered, said Dorothy Moxley.
The presiding judge found that Rushton Skakel was competent to testify, and that a trip to Bridgeport, Conn., where the grand jury is convened, did not constitute undue hardship.
Meanwhile, Tommy and Michael Skakel have both declared their innocence in the murder of Martha Moxley. No date has been set thus far for their fathers grand jury testimony.
